Fish Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Koi

Fish gliding through clear water fill this Chinese scroll painting, and it settles into a space the moment it goes up. The fish has always been a favorite subject, and you can see why — it carries the whole scroll. The composition balances its subject with koi and nine fish, so the scroll never feels empty or busy.

The line work is lively and varied, the washes laid down with assurance — brushwork without a moment's doubt. Beyond the looks, there is meaning: fish are a pun on surplus — the old wish for plenty, year after year. The brush never overstates its case. Koi gives exactly as much as needed, and no more. On silk the colors settle into a soft, matte depth that flatters the subject.

A study, a tea room, a hallway you walk slowly — those are its places. A fish silk wall art like this brings a settled, scholarly feeling to any room. It is a fine example of koi and nine fish Chinese painting, the kind of piece that grows on you.
