Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Egret Gongbi

This silk wall-hanging scroll presents Egret Gongbi, a flower and bird subject rendered in the classical Chinese manner. Silk was the support of choice for court painters — a fact the egret here makes clear. The pairing of gongbi with lotus is what makes this traditional Chinese flower and bird painting memorable. There's egret too, woven in without crowding the scene. A steady, unshowy beauty.

The eye moves from gongbi to lotus without a hitch. In the egret passages the brush stays loose and sure, as good Chinese flower and bird painting for home decor should. This is wall art that asks for nothing and gives plenty. Finishing notes of gongbi tie the foreground together. Walls this calm are hard to find.

A natural for the tea room wall, beside a bookshelf or in an entryway. Anyone with a soft spot for classical Chinese aesthetics will feel at home with it on the tea room wall. End of story: Egret Gongbi is the Chinese silk painting for home decor your wall was missing. Home is where the scroll is.
