Lotus Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Colorful Gongbi

There is nothing fussy about this scroll: lotus blossoms on still water, honest brushwork, and room to breathe. The lotus has always been a favorite subject, and you can see why — it carries the whole scroll. The painter didn't skimp on detail — lotus, lotus leaf and colorful gongbi all get their moment.

As a colorful gongbi lotus painting, it sits comfortably alongside much older pieces without feeling like a copy. The lotus rises clean from muddy water, the classic emblem of purity, in the old visual language of Chinese painting. Expect lively, varied color throughout; the restraint is deliberate, and it works. It brings high summer along: blossoms fully open, greens at their deepest, days at their longest. It goes up on a single cord and lies flat to the wall, just as hanging scrolls have for centuries.

Decent light, a clear stretch of wall — that is the whole installation manual. A lotus silk wall art like this brings a settled, scholarly feeling to any room.
