Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Bulbul Orchid

This wall scroll is for lovers of flower and bird: a flower-and-bird scene, painted in a relaxed classical style. It is the flower-and-bird theme that defines this scroll: familiar ground, seen as if for the first time. You'll notice bulbul and orchid woven through the composition, giving the eye somewhere to wander.

It hangs comfortably near antique flower-and-bird pieces — related by spirit, not imitation. Like much classical Chinese art, it carries a wish inside the image — the orchid stands for refinement and the quiet virtue of the scholar. The eye travels the scroll the way you would walk the scene — bulbul, then orchid, then the distance beyond. The silk ground lends the palette a gentle, matte richness — kind to the subject matter.

As a housewarming gift for someone who loves Chinese brushwork, it is hard to go wrong. For the person building their first Chinese art collection, this is a gift that lands well. It is a fine example of bulbul and orchid Chinese painting, the kind of piece that grows on you.
