Wang Xizhi Chinese Painting Print – Lanting Xu Running Script

The appeal here is straightforward: Wang Xizhi, Lanting Xu Running Script, and brushwork worth studying. It arrives as a bare printed sheet: a huaxin reproduction of the painting, nothing added.

The painter balances calligraphy against Lanting Xu, with running script to anchor the whole, and a worthy Chinese calligraphy wall art. There’s also handscroll and seals worked into the scene. Rendered in running script, the inscription has the rhythm of handwriting at speed. The written lines are drawn as much as written; calligraphy was never separate from painting. Wang Xizhi, the 4th-century ‘Sage of Calligraphy,’ set the standard every later hand measured itself against. Proportions follow the classical models; the image feels settled and complete. The image rewards close viewing: small touches emerge the longer you look.

Collectors of Chinese prints will recognize the quality at a glance — a Chinese art print for framing with real substance. For the office: a window onto somewhere quieter.
